Deputy State Attorney Dorit Benish promptly filed an appeal with the Supreme Court to reverse the district court order. The appeal, to be heard by Justice Aharon Barak, argues that the Jerusalem court ignored the gravity of the charges facing the editors of the paper, Derekh Hanitzotz. The state charges that the editors are members of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a Marxist Palestinian terrorist group headed by Nayef Hawatmeh, and that the newspaper was financed by the terrorist organization.
