FLAcitad al= JAM send Detroit, MI CHILDHOOD ANXIETY later life in the form of full- blown phobias. Help for childhood anxiety can be obtained through a number of therapeutic techni- ques. The earlier the parents seek help, the easier it is to find the sources of the anxiety and make appropriate modifications. A qualified child/family therapist can help parents to decide on how best to help their child. Some children seem to pro- gress through life with relative- ly little tension, anxiety, and in- security. Other children are easi- ly fearful of new people, new situations, and new tasks. These fears can show up in many ways, ranging from being a bit shy to being unable to do schoolwork; from being plagued by night- mares; to being unable to visit friends; from stuttering to violent stomach pains or headaches. Whatever the symptoms, the anxious child finds life difficult, and his social and academic development usually suffers. One danger of not intercepting childhood anxieties at an early stage is the possibility of regress- ing back to these conflicts in If you think we can be of help, "Let's Talk About It" in complete confidence.
