Six Celebrate
B'nai Mitzvah
Six students from the
Jewish Parents Institute will
become b'nai mitavah at 8
p.m. Saturday in Shiffman
Hall of the Jewish Communi-
ty Center.
Aaron Bard, Seth Becker,
Jordan Fox, Stacy Greene,
Lorin Meskin and Lev Tam-
bor have studied various top-
pics concerning Jewish life,
ethics, and growth, have per-
formed at least 32 hours of
community service, and have
completed a research project.
They are twinning their
b'nai mitzvah with Viktoria
Abuliahk and Leonid Altman
of the Soviet Union. Both
Viktoria and Leonid, along
with their families, have
recently received their exit
visas from the Soviet
government.
The ceremony will be
followed by a reception in
honor of the b'nai mitzvah
and their families.

B'nai Mitzvah
Jeffrey Fixler, son of Janice
and Thomas Fbder and Aaron
Weckstein, son of Charlene
and Malcolm Weckstein, will
twin the observance of their
b'nai mitzvah celebration on
Saturday at Adat Shalom
Synagogue with David
Klebanov, son of Elisheva and
Gerzl Klebanov of
Cheliabinsk, U.S.S.R.
Klebanov is an engineer,
but since applying for exit
visas in 1979, he has been
forced to take on menial work
to support his family since he
has not been allowed to work
in his profession. The reason
for refusal is unknown.
The Klebanovs are a
religious family and speak
fluent Hebrew and Yiddish.
They have managed to gather
a minyan quietly for the
holidays and have requested
books on the Jewish holidays.
Jeffrey and Aaron have
written to David and will at-
tempt to reach the family by
phone.
