Rabbi Arnold Sleutelberg
has been appointed rabbi at
Congregation Beth El in
Traverse City and at the Troy
Jewish Congregation.
Rabbi Sleutelberg, the son
of Simon and Edith
Sleutelberg of Hudson, Mich.,
was ordained by Dr. Alfred
Gottschalk, president of
Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Religion,
last month in New York.
Rabbi Sleutelberg holds a
bachelor's degree from Albion
College. While a student, he
served at Congregation Beth
El in Traverse City and at the
Michigan State University
B'nai B'rith Hillel
Foundation.
He is the co-author of
"Eagles Soaring High," the
Boy Scout all-faith prayer-
book, which was published in
1985.

Temple Kol Ami
Installs Officers

The new officers of Temple
Kol Ami will be installed dur-
ing services at 8 p.m. June 10.
The officers are Charles
Canvasser, president; Phyllis
Strome, first vice president;
Jeffrey Kovan, second vice
president; Richard Lenter,
third vice president; Sally Jo
Levine, secretary; and Martin
Saffer treasurer.
Elected to the board of
trustees were Douglas Bloom,
Rona Boyer, Nena Chudnof,
Sandra Hermanoff, Ilene
Klegon, Roger Persin, marcy

installed during services at
9 a.m. tomorrow.
Officers to be installed are
Sanford Rosenthal, president;
Brian Schiff, first vice presi-
dent; Edward Miller, second
vice president; Alfred
Berkowitz, third vice presi-
dent; George Bass, president
emeritus; Sheilah E. Gold-
berg, secretary; and Bernard
Gottfried, treasurer.

B'nai Moshe
Holds Auction

Congregation B'nai Moshe
will host an auction at 6:30
p.m. June 12 in the social
hall. Kay Roth and Gladys
and Larry Rockind are in
charge of the event, which

will include both a silent and
live auction.
Among the items to be auc-
tioned are a Cass Lake dinner
cruise; handmade Afghans;
wind surfing lessons; opera
and concert tickets; an
American flag that flew over
the Capitol; health tests; and
a kosher dinner for 12.
There is a charge. For infor-

admission in advance will
receive a discount.

Temple To Host
Movie Benefit

"Big Business," the new
comedy starring Bette Midler
and Lilly Tomlin, will be
presented June 12 at a major
fund-raiser during the Birm-
ingham Temple's 25th an-
niversary celebration. Pro-
ceeds will be used for the tem-
ple's educational programs.
The evening will begin with
a party at 5 p.m. at the Old
Orchard Theater. Refresh-
ments will be served. The
film will begin at 5:45 p.m.
There is a charge. Tickets
may be purchased at the tem-

B'nai David
Family Luncheon

Congregation B'nai David
will hold its monthly Family
Shabbat Luncheon following
Sabbath morning services on
June 11 at the synagogue.
Rabbi Morton F. Yolkut will
lead a discussion on the Torah
portion and Cantor Stuart
Friedman will lead the tradi-
tional Sabbath zemerot. A
catered luncheon will be serv-
ed at no charge, but non-
members are asked to make
reservations by Tuesday.

the Birmingham 'Temple will
be installed during services
at 8:30 p.m. today. The service
will include a tribute to past
presidents and the unveiling
of the 25th anniversary
sculpture.
The history committee will
host an exhibit entitled "Our
Past in Words and Pictures."
An Oneg Shabbat will follow
the program.
