People Mover
Ride Planned

The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Corn-
munity Center has planned a
ride on the People Mover for
June 9.
Docent Joyce LaBan, a
member of the Art in the Sta-
tions Commission, will
discuss 15 major works by na-
tional as well as local artists
commissioned for each of the
13 People Mover stations. The
bus will depart from the
Maple/Drake Building of the
Jewish Community Center at
10:30 a.m. The tour will be
preceded by lunch at Pegasus.
A fee includes transportation
and art tour costs. Guests are
responsible for their own
lunches.

Senior Named
For An Award

Mel Richman

Mel Richman of Southfield
has been selected as an
"Outstanding Senior" by the
Older Adult Health Quarter-
ly (OAHQ), a Blue Cross and
Blue Shield of Michigan
publication for senior groups.
Richman was nominated for
his volunteer work for elder-
ly Jews at adult foster care
facilities in Detroit and the
Livonia Nursing Home.
Richman coordinates a pro-
gram that provides support to
these seniors.

Women In
Yiddish Films

The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Com-
munity Center, Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Building, will have
a showing of a film and
discussion of "Women in Yid-
dish Films" with Dan
Greenberg on Thursday at
12:30 p.m. in Jaffe Hall of the
JPM. Greenberg, film pro-
ducer, newspaper critic and
university film instructor,
also has considerable

knowledge of the Yiddish
language and Jewish films.
Sol Grenadier will lead the
Yiddish Reading Circle at
10:30 a.m. today in room 4 of
the JPM.
Helga Plonskier will teach
Yiddish at 1:15 p.m. today in
room 2 of the JPM.
The movie "Yankee Doodle
Dandy" will be shown by Ar-
chie Leslie in the JPM
assembly hall at 2 p.m. Sun-
day. There is no charge.
Frances Weinberg will
discuss the book "Double Vi-
sion" by Zeev Chafetz at 11
a.m. Tuesday in room 4 of the
JPM.
John L. Thackaberry of
Citizens Against Crime will
speak at 1 p.m. Tuesday in
the JPM assembly hall.
The third part of the movie,
"Dr. Doolittle," will be shown
at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the
assembly hall of the JPM.
Chana Klein will discuss
Jewish literature in the
JPM library at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday.

To Senior Adults

Transportation is available
to the senior adult activities
offered at the Jewish Com-
munity Center's Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Building. For a
ride, call the Jewish Informa-
tion Service, 967-4357. The
service is currently available
as follows: Monday, Detroit
and Southfield; Tuesday and
Thursday, Oak Park; Wednes-
day, Detroit, Southfield,
Berkley, Oak Park and Royal
Oak.

Seniors Plan
Summer Picnic

The senior adult depart-
ment of the Jewish Com-
munity Center will have a
"Welcome Summer Picnic" at
Camp Ruth I, located behind
the Maple/Drake Building, on
June 13 at noon.
Advance reservations are
due by June 6. There is a
charge. Call Marilyn Wolfe or
Judy Samson, 661-1000 or
call 967-4030, for
reservations.

Bridge Game
For Seniors

Bridge players are invited
to a drop-in bridge game on
Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., in the
atrium of the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building of the Jewish
Community Center.
Participants should be able
to play on an intermediate or
advanced level. For details,
