Ex-Detroiter
In Dance Show

Detroit Dance Collective
and The Carolyn Dorfman
Dance Company of New
Jersey, featuring Detroiter
Carolyn Dorfman, will per-
form joint concerts on June 3
and 4 at 8 p.m. at the Royal
Oak campus of Oakland Com-
munity College.
The Collective will present
four full ensemble works by
its Artistic Directors, Barbara
Selinger and Paula Kramer.
Selinger's "Woodland" is set
to a specially commissioned
synthesizer score by noted
film composer, Joseph
LoDuca. The Detroit
premiere of "Requiem For A
Star-Tamer," based on paint-
ings by Wassily Kandinsky
will also • be presented.
Kramer's "Travellers On The
Same Road," choreographed
to score by George Rochberg,
was inspired by images of the
Holocaust and Picasso's
"Guernica." She will also be
represented by a new version
of "One More Time Around,"
a spoof of the 1930s set to
some of George Gershwin's
music.
Dorfman's contributions
will include a new ensemble
work "Conversations" with
original music by Michael
Ray (a score funded in part by
Meet the Composer, Inc.) Her
company will also perform
"Lunaris," a sextet
choreographed by Fred
Mathews, and "Evol Thud," a
romantic duet for Ms. Dorf-
man and Steven J. Myers, as
well as "Lifeline," one of Dorf-
man's visual pieces.
