FRIDAY, MAY 27, 1988

. . . He was finally able to
coax Martin back into the
spotlight . . . His repertoire is
wide . . . spanning about
seven decades of favorite
tunes, both American and
foreign.
CHEF REMY BERDY
has returned . . . after a year
in England . . . The very
popular and highly-talented
former executive chef of
Michigan Inn and Sheraton
Oaks will soon open what he
and wife Karen have always
yearned for . . . a full-service
catering operation where the
host or hostess just sits back
and lets someone else do all
the work . . . Naturally, Remy
and Karen will also do affairs
in which the host or hostess
takes a hand in selecting
their own invitations, flowers,
etc.
It'll-be known as Remy Ber-
dy Catering . . . It's kitchen
and 200 on-premise operation
when needed will be the
former Palombo's on W. Eight
Mile Rd. . . . The duo will also
plan affairs at other locales as
well.
Few people can make ice
carvings like Remy . . . or
prepare the kind of dishes of
which he is capable.
The catering game gets a
huge plus with his return.
THE NEW Prock's Comedy
Showroom in lower level of
Prock's Restaurant and
Lounge, W. Maple in
Clawson, is the answer to
what Ron Coden and Bob
Posch have been looking for
since Red Cedars burned
down . . . Their search has
been rewarded with the ac-
quisition of a fine location to
display their talents.
Now appearing there is the
Ron Coden Show with his two
sidemen, Steve Fava and Ron
Blight . . . Ron Coden is a
comedian, singer, guitarist
and all-around personable
and entertaining performer
. . . plus being a nice young
man.
The trio performs two shows
Friday and Saturday nites .. .
8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Prock's Restaurant and
Lounge upstairs has full din-
ing service . . . with listening
and dancing music.
CLAUDIO NARDINI,
former general manager, has
left Michigan Inn, J.L. Hud-
son Drive . . . He takes over
the same post at Royce Hotel
at LaGuardia Airport in New
York.
Michigan Inn, by the way, is
no longer a Servico property
. . . New owner is Equitable ,
Life . . . Servico operates
Royce.
FORMER NORTHLAND
Inn on Northland Drive, wil
become a senior citizens
haven . . . New name may be

American House.
THE AGED, dilapidated
Evergreen Inn on. Nor-
thwestern and 10 Mile,
originally built as a Howard
Johnson back when
Southfield was still a
township, may have a
$200,000 or more tuneup if
new owners take over . . . It
would be called Signature Inn
. . . with modernistic struc-
ture both inside and out.
THE NAME "Sergeo's"
was being bounced around,
and one of the persons
couldn't pronounce his "rs"
. . . and kept saying "Sageo's"
. . . This remained the name
as Jim and Alia Sage have
come out of their nine-month
vacation retirement break
from the restaurant business.
Their new spot is a former
Elias Bros. Big Boy in the
Mid-11 Plaza, Middlebelt M.
and 11 Mile . . . seating 138
in booths and at tables.
Most of the inside was gut-
ted and in its place is a fami-
ly restaurant of black and
gray decor with a large, live
fish tank imbedded in one of
the walls . . . as fans whirl on
the recessed lighted ceiling
and a neon strip is across an
overhang.
Framed pictures are on the
walls, black and white
chandeliers are above the
booths and plants hang from
the ceiling . . . The entrance
doors to Sageo's are clear,
with leaded glass designs, for-
mica is atop and on the sides
of the booths, and Venetian
blinds cover the many
windows.
Our waitress, Tracey Dover,
is among the fine, efficient
employees . . . and brought
me a tender chicken kabob
from Sageo's wide menu
variety of homemade soups,
salads, breakfast, lunch and
dinner entrees, sandwiches,
desserts, etc.
the
from
Retiring
restaurant business and get-
ting back is difficult . . . But
Jim and Alia love it too much
to stay away.
OVER 700 at recent Varie-
ty Club Celebrity Ball raised
$100,000 for Children's
Hospital . . . Chairpersons
were Sandy Gale, Marilyn
Karbal, Les Lee Roland,
Rosalie Rosen and Harrilee
Shevin . . . The $100,000
established a cardiovascular
surgical facility at Children's
Hospital.
AN ISRAELI, watching
his first ice hockey game,
came' to the conclusion the
contest has two objectives .. .
The first is to get the puck in-
to the net . . . The second is,
if you can't get the puck into
the net, hit somebody.
