Do you have a favorite kosher
recipe? Each month in this space,
L'Chayim will print a kosher recipe
that the whole family can prepare
together. To contribute to the
column, type your recipe in a way in
which the entire family can
participate and send it to L'Chayim,

This month's recipes were
contributed by Gerrie Spalter of
West Bloomfield (Lemon Bars
Deluxe) and by Bea Dashow of
Huntington Woods (Noodle Pudding
Souffle), respectively.

eggs, beaten; 2 cups granulated
sugar; 1/3 cup lemon juice; 1/4 cup
all-purpose flour; 1/2 tsp. baking
powder.
Let one of the younger children
sift together the 2 cups flour and
the confectioners sugar. Let an older
child cut in butter or margarine until
mixture clings together. Mom can
press the dough into a 13x9x2 inch
pan and bake the crust at 350
degrees for 20-25 minutes or until
lightly browned.
Dad can beat together the
eggs, granulated sugar and lemon
juice. One of the kids can sift
together the 1/4 cup flour and baking

powder. Another child can stir these
into the egg mixture.
Mom can pour the mixture over
the baked crust and return the pan
to the oven for 25 minutes more.
Dad can sprinkle some extra
confectioners sugar on top and
Mom can cut into bars. Yield: 30
bars.

Noodle Pudding
Souffle Recipe

Mom can preheat the oven to
375 degrees while the children
gather all the ingredients: 3 eggs,
separated; 1/2 cup melted butter; 2
tbsp. sugar; 1 lb. cottage cheese; 1

cup sour cream; 1/2 lb. noodles,
cooked; 1/2 cup crushed corn flakes;
butter dotted.

Let Dad beat the egg yolks
while the kids add melted butter
and sugar. Mom can fold in the
cottage cheese, sour cream and
noodles. An older child can beat the
egg whites until stiff and fold into
the noodle mixture. Mom can pour
the whole mixture in a 2 qt.
buttered casserole while the kids
sprinkle corn flakes on top and dot
with butter. Dad can put the
pudding into the oven to bake for 45
minutes.

sifted; 1/2 cup confectioners sugar,

The Illinois State Senate
passed two bills in an attempt to
block the court ruling which would
allow the Nazis to March in Skokie.
The Junior Division of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
celebrates its 40th anniversary with

a song and dance revue at the
Jewish Community Center.

20 YEARS AGO

France gave 50 Mirage 5 jet
planes to Israel by way of
transfership. They were placed in
storage in France pending the lifting
of the French government's
embargo on military planes for
Israel.
The youth council for Soviet
Jewry organized Project Outcry, a
protest for Soviet Jews. Following

the program dealing with the
problems Jews in the Soviet Union
and Poland face, petitions were
distributed for circulation.

40 YEARS AGO

May 14 is the day that Israel
officially became an independent
state.
Michigan leaders of the Ku Klux
Klan stepped up their efforts to
raise funds for the alleged purposes
of combatting communism among
other patriotic objectives.
