DOR L'DOR

Adat Shalom was the
recent site of the Dor L'Dor
concert featuring singers
from the Jewish
Community Center Senior
Adult Department and the
sixth grade students from
Hillel Day School. The
students and seniors
became pen pals before
singing together in the
concert. Some of the pen
pals were: MARA
REINSTEIN and REGINA
MANTEL, KEVIN
LUBASKI, DAVID
SIMMER and DAVID
RUSS, SYLVIA RUSS,
REBECCA KATZMAN and
EILEEN ISRAEL, LISA
ZAKS and OLGA TAUSIG.
The songs were in Yiddish,
English and Hebrew.

program for the recent
installation of new officers
for the Sinai Hospital Guild
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Some of the officers

HOPE SILVERMAN,
BARBARA CHAITIN, LEO

writer for The Jewish
News, won first prize for
enterprise reporting in the
1987 Associated Press
Sports Editors' national
writing competition.
Orbach won the award for a
series of articles published
in the Ann Arbor News in
March 1987, which focused
on the academic life of
University of Michigan
student athletes. The series
won in the category for U.S.
newspapers under 50,000
circulation. Detroit Free
Press sportswriter MITCH
ALBOM won first place for
best column and fifth place
for best feature story in the

Beth El Has
Kindergarten

Temple Beth El will extend
its nursery school to include
a kindergarten.
The kindergarten is open to
any child who is five years of
age on or before Dec. 1. The
curriculum will parallel the
surrounding school districts,
so the child will be prepared
to enter first grade.
The all-day kindergarten
will be enhanced with a
Jewish enrichment program
interwoven into the child's
school day. Tuition includes
the kindergarten day plus the
lunch fee. Extended hours can
also be arranged it needed.
