Dr. David Luchins, special
assistant to Sen. Daniel
Patrick Moynihan since 1981,
will address the Einstein
Luncheon Forum on Thurs-
day at noon at TK's
restaurant (formerly
Dimitri's), 25080 Southfield,
Southfield, it was announced
by Judges Ira G. Kaufman
and Benjamin Friedman, the
forum's co-chairmen.
Dr. Luchins will discuss the
current status in U.S.-Israel
relations.
Dr. Luchins received his
B.A. degree from Yeshiva
University and his Ph.D.
degree from City University
of New York. He is associate
professor of political science
at Touro College, New York,
and has taught at Baruch
College, Brooklyn College
and Yeshiva College.
He has served on the na-
tional staff of the Humphrey
for President campaign in
1972, was consultant to the
department of health, educa-
tion and welfare in 1973-1974
and member of the steering
committee, White House Con-
ference on Youth in
1971-1972.
Dr. Luchins is a member of
the national advisory com-
mittee, Jewish Fund for
Justice; national vice presi-
dent of the Union of Orthodox
Jewish Congregations and
member of the national pro-
gram committee of the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith.

Press publication, Medieval
Jewish Seals from Europe by
Daniel M. Friedenberg, has
won the 1988 National
Jewish Book Award for
scholarship.
Friedenberg's book is a
study of the seals used by
Jews from the 12th to the
16th Century to confirm of-
ficial documents. The book
traces the role of the Jew in
the transformation of Europe
from a barter to a money
economy.
Friedenberg is the former
curator of coins and medals at
the Jewish Museum in New
York and a fellow at the
American Numismatic Socie-
ty. His most recent book was

Jewish Minters and
Medalists.
