PLATTERS FOR 2

Homemade Pasta

The regular fare includes
the usual like almond
chicken, egg foo young, won
ton soup, etc. . . . but a special
section reveals an Oriental
culinary variety not seen at
too many places.
The egg roll is not your
usual kind and is served with
three types of sauces in glass
containers . . . Its seafood
soup includes shrimps and
scallops in homemade
chicken broth.
Cashew scallops is a
delicious delicacy, as is the
chicken with black Chinese
mushrooms and Ching Tao's
noted Three Delicacies dish
with lobster, shrimp and
scallops sauteed in a special
sauce and served over
noodles.
Ching Tao Palace in Farrell
Shopping Plaza, seating 120
at all booths, is owned by the
same bossperson of the award-
winning Ching Tao Palace on
Garfield Road at 18 Mile in
Clinton Township, which
recently celebrated its sixth
anniversary.
Ninety percent of the food is
stir-fried . . . Very little is
breaded and if necessary,
with an ultra-thin coating .. .
Only clear gel corn starch is
used, a very much lighter bat-
ter than the ordinary, which
in most cases is too heavy.
Charles Liu's Ching Tao
Palace at Farrell Shopping
Plaza has no outside sign yet
. . . remodeling of the soon-to-
be renamed Southfield Com-
mons Mall includes restripp-
ing of all the fronts.

The two operations will
combine June 6 . . . with all
proceeds of the day going to
Children's Leukemia Society
of America . . . Another
Charles Kiu's Ching Tao
operations . . . not included in
the June 6 Leukemia fund-
raiser . . . is the counter-style
carry-out with a limited list of
dishes at Picadilly Mall on
Woodward in Birmingham.

HUSBAND AND WIFE

team, Norma and Al
Schonwetter, participated in
recent Israel Trade Show at
Tel-12 Mall . . . Norma, a syn-
dicated microwave columnist,
who teaches microwave cook-
ing classes and was the editor
of National Council of Jewish
Women's successful cookbook,
"Fiddler In The Kitchen,"
demonstrated Israeli
microwave cooking at the
mall . . . Al was an exhibitor
for Ampal-American Israel
Corp. . . . He is the Michigan
representative for Ampal,
selling the debentures . . .
Ampal is the only American
firm that has been financing
Israel's industrial, commer-
cial and agriculatural enter-
prises since 1942.
