Ex-Detroiter To Speak
For Holocaust Center

Lawrence Rudner, professor
of English at North Carolina
State University, will speak
for the Holocaust Memorial
Center's 1987-1988 lecture
series on Wednesday at 7:30
p.m.
His lecture "Polish Jewry
Today" will precede by one
week the publication by
Houghton Mifflin Co. of his
first novel, The Magic We Do
Here, recreating a world lost
during the Holocaust.
Rudner, a former Detroiter
who has studied at the Lon-
don School of Economics and
holds a doctorate from the
University of Michigan,
taught as a Fulbright Fellow
in Crakow last year. He will
return to teach a class of
Polish students in Poznon this
summer. During his five prior
visits to Poland, much of his
free time was devoted to ex-
ploring what was once the
largest Jewish community in
the world.

Sharansky To Address
Center Annual Meeting

Maple/Drake building. A com-
mittee, headed by Kenneth
Dishell and Dr. Arnold
Kollin, is working on ar-
rangements for the event.
In addition to the installa-
tion of officers and new board
members, volunteers will be
recognized for their special ef-
forts on behalf of the agency.
The keynote address will be
given by Natan Sharansky,
former Soviet refusenik and
current Jewish activist.
Sharansky has written a new
book, Fear No Evil, about his
nine years in KGB custody.

Maple/Drake Jewish Corn-
munity Center. The building
is wheelchair accessible.
There is no admission charge,
and the public is invited.
