Ceramic pieces, cacti and a huge stucco vase filled with petrified wood give Southwestern ultimte the ambiance. Around the corner of the living room is the exercise studio, com- plete with treadmills, weightlifting machines, Jacuzzi and sauna. There's even a papier-mache mer- maid and a television. The color scheme again is soft peach and quiet. The kitchen is open and spacious with white Formica cabinets designed by Janice Mor- ris of Walled Lake. For a fun effect, the owner displays a frog tureen on the counter. The kitchen is state-of-the-art with the latest ap- pliances. For quick snacks there is a kidney shaped table with bar stools. The kitchen leads into three dif- ferent rooms: the formal dining room, the informal dining area and a family room. The informal dining room has a greenhouse effect with plants next to solarium glass shaped windows in the corner. The glass table is 32 HOME surrounded by coral office chairs that swivel and are on wheels. Again, the owner wanted a com- fortable and durable style. On the walls there's a vibrant canvas by artist Eileen Aboulafaia. Aboulafia also created the centerpiece on the table, which is a rocking horse, and a mirror image of the canvas. The family room, also off the kit- chen, has bookshelves, a desk, and overstuffed pastel tweed couches. Large glass windows allow the guests to see the spec- tacular view. The hallway from the kitchen leads to the playroom — a true fantasy island for children. There are a few video games, the size one finds in restaurants, along with pinball machines, a bumper pool table, a large television screen, video recorder, wet bar, small refrigerator, and stereo speakers for music. The room is completely decorated in seafoam green. Many of the Southwestern accent pieces are from Mesa and Gor- man's. The chair and table from Mesa have interesting animal designs. Upstairs the house contains a master bedroom suite, the children's rooms, a guest room FANTASY GAME room in seafoam green has many electronic features including video games, an elaborate stereo system and a large television screen. The daughter's room is lavender, and she has a four post brass bed. The son's room is done in black velvet, red and creme. Each child has a private bathroom. The owner is in the midst of redecorating the master bedroom suite. In the master bath, the owner has a beautiful collection of perfume bottles in an antique, wood cabinet. The house is a fantasy island for all the members. It's no wonder the owner feels like she is on vaca- tion when she is at home. The art is lovely and blends well into the scenery.
