The senior adult choir under the direction of Vivian Stollman and accompanied by Sonny Lippenholtz will enter- tain at Borman Hall on Mon- day at 1:30 p.m. Herman Chapin, Detroit Symphony Orchestra docent, will discuss the music to be played at the May 13 Coffee Concert on Tuesday in the JPM assembly hall at 1 p.m. The lecture and concert are provided through a grant of the Michigan Concil for the Arts and the Boaz Siegel En- dowment Fund. there is a nominal charge for the concert. The movie, Pajama Game will be shown at 2 p.m. in the JPM assembly hall on Tuesday. The senior adult camp re- union will take place Wednes- day at 1 p.m. in the Jaffe Hall. A video of the camp will be shown, qustions will be answered by Camp Director Ada Bandalene. The Experts- in-Residence program will be discussed and refreshments and entertainment provided. Campers, friends and guests are welcome. On Thursday, the For Women Only Club will celebrate its tenth anniver- sary. A special celebration honoring ladies' birthdays will take place at that time, along with a program com- memorating the club's tenth year. Bernice Konikow, club photographer and historian, will present highlights of past years' events and Lillian Zellman will be mistress of ceremonies. This program will take place at noon in Jaffe Hall and is open to members only. The Culture Club will pre- sent Mary Koretz, Yiddishist, on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the JPM assembly hall. Jewish Agencies Mark Older Americans Month A variety of local programs is being coordinated by the Jewish Community Center, the three facilities of the Jewish Home for Aged (JHA), and the Jewish Federation Apartments, Inc., in celebra- tion of Older Americans Month being celebrated this month. The month-long series of events will culminate in the launching of hundreds of helium-filled baloons at Bor- man Hall/JHA in Detroit, Prentis Manor/JHA in Southfield, the Jimmy Pren- tis Morris Jewish Communi- ty Center and Prentis Federa- tion Apartments in Oak Park, as well as the JHA's Fleischman Residence/Blum- berg Plaza and the Hechtman Federation Apartments in West Bloomfield, May 26 at 2 p.m. During the month, Prentis Manor and Borman Hall, the JHA's licensed nursing homes, will honor an outstan- ding nurse with the Mary Breslin Nursing Award and will observe National Nurs- ing Week. At Flesichman Residence/ Blumberg Plaza, the JHA's licensed home for aged, kindergarteners through third graders from the Jewish Parents Intitute will visit the residents on May 15 and a trip to see a performance of Girl Crazy at the Birm- ingham Theatre along with the senior adult division of the Jewish Community Center will highlight Fleischman's day on May 18. Featured on May 15 at 2 p.m. at Borman Hall/JHA and Prentis Manor/JHA will be the formal dedication of giant-size quilts, with squares made by residents' families, to be hung in the lobby of each of the Jewish Home for Aged facilities. Also on the agenda for the Older Americans Month observance is an essay contest on "My Favorite Older Per- son" for area young people. Awards will be given in four age categories with winners to be announced in June. Serving on the Older American Month Planning Committee are Irma Starr of the Jewish Community Center, Patricia Milner and Carol Hadley of the Jewish Federation Apartments, Inc. and Marcia Mittelman of the Jewish Home for Aged.
