TREAT
MOM
THIS SUNDAY

children who live there"); and
a victim of rape.
None of the individual pain-
tings is titled.
"I didn't title them because
everyone can read their own
experience into them," says
Kozlow. "If I show them to
Jews, they'll read the
Holocaust. But I could bring
Palestinians up here now, and
they'd identify some other
way. Brutality and brutaliz-
ing is a universal, unending
cycle. The only things that
change are the victims.
"Hopelessness enters in
because the cycle does seem to
be unending. And painting it
is not really any kind of
catharsis for me because,
when I finish, I'm as angry
and upset as I was before I
started. What I've done is just
give another dimension to my
anger."
lb open the show at Birm-
ingham Temple, Koslow will
comment briefly on the collec-
tion at 8:30 p.m. today. A wine
and cheese reception will
follow.
The series will continue
Saturday and Sunday from
noon to 5 p.m. The public is
invited.
"People don't have to agree
with the statements I've
made in the paintings,"
Kozlow says. "But I do hope
the paintings will move some
of those who see them, cause
people to think, maybe even
disturb some people."
