JUST A carry-out when
originally opened in spring of
1975, Plaza Deli, North-
western and 12 Mile, is now
also a sit-down self-serve
restaurant . . . both inside
and outside . . . and has add-
ed still more seating to its
previous 14 booths for 46 and
12 tables outdoors for 44
more.
An area not too many peo-
ple know about because by
habit they sit on the older
side, is a new sector which
owner Rob Jackier (took over
Jan. 25, 1986) has added with
burgundy tables and padded
chairs (color goes good with
the yellow mustard bottles),
framed restaurant-oriented
pictures, new carpeting, case
with potato chips, fruit juices,
apple sauce and soft drinks
. . . refrigerated case with
dairy products (milk, cheese,
etc.) . . . case with breads and
rolls.
Long counter for self-serve
of Plaza Deli's food is its best
recommendation . . . so many
people, especially at
lunchtime.
It is still primarily a carry-
out deli . . . but now with
much more seating than
before . . . and the hard
salamis remain hanging from
ceiling hooks . . . as Plaza
Deli becomes a four-faced
operation . . . carry-out, two
indoor dining areas . . . and
outdoor tables for soft, breezy
comfort.
A LOT OF surprised people
said it was the best Multiple
Sclerosis party they'd been to
. . . as 300 folks enjoyed their
evening at Joey's on Jefferson
. . . with owner Gary Tringale
tossing in the lavish, buffet-
style hot and cold hors
d'oeuvres.
Admission of $1.50 went to
Multiple Sclerosis reserach
. . . and included the first
drink . . . Evening wasn't sup-
posed to be a fund-raiser .. .
just another get-together for
the supporters . . . However,
about $1,000 went into the
research coffers . . . thanks to
Joey's On Jefferson.
OPENING TONIGHT at
Somerset Mall is "Somerset
Strut," a new cabaret show
musical with Phil Marcus
Esser, Barbara Bredius and
Charlie Latimer . . . Dinner
and show reservations com-
bine dining at Sebastian's,
with complete price of $29.50
for both . . . Show only is
