Ira Silverman, 43, is ex-
pected to be be named ex-
ecutive vice president of the
American Jewish Committee
at the organization's annual
meeting next week.
The Committee has been
without an executive vice
president since it fired David
Gordis last year.
Silverman was director of
national programming at the
Committee from 1977 to
1981. He went on to become
president of the Reconstruc-
tionist Rabbinical College in
Philadelphia and then ex-
ecutive vice president of the
92nd Street YMHA in New
York.
