Fun Day program at United Hebrew Schools and a Kosher Food and Judaica Craft Fair at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish Center drew hundreds of Southfield and Oak Park residents the, last two Sundays. "We wanted people to have fun, and we wanted people to know what a great neighborhood we have here," said Les Goldstein, co-chair with Leslie London of the April 17 Project Fun Day. That event was co-sponsored by the Jewish Welfare Federation's Neighborhood Project and the informal Greater Square Mile group, incorporating residents living in the area bounded by 11 and 12 Mile Roads and Evergreen and Lahser, plus the Bell Road area. Last Sunday's fair at JPM highlighted kosher caterers, merchants and restaurants in the Oak Park - Southfield area, as well as Jewish art and crafts, pony rides and refreshments. More than 1,500 persons jammed JPM for the event. Goldstein said that both events served to highlight the Jewish neighborhoods in Oak Park and Southfield. "The outstanding characteristics," he said, "are the home value and the sense of neighborhood." _111 Snakes are flyin'! A magician retrieves his reptile.
