Prof. Stephen M. Berk,
chairman of the department
of history at Union College in
Schenectady, N.Y., will speak
at the B'nai David Israel
Bond leadership reception to
be held 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Hosting the reception in
their Southfield home are Dr.
Henri and Anaruth Bernard.
The event will be a prelude to
the congregation's "celebra-
tion Dinner" on May 31,
honoring Rabbi Morton F.
Yolkut, on the occasion of his
10th anniversary year as
spiritual leader of B'nai
David, and celebrating
Israel's 40th birthday.
Prof. Berk has published
studies on East European
Jewry and on Israel. He is
director of the program of
Comparative Communist
Studies and coordinator of the
Union College Program in
Israel. His latest work is Year

Israel and the American Na-
tional Interests.
