Crack Down
On Neo-Nazis

Bonn (JTA) — In the West
German federal state of
North Rhine-Westphalia, the
state's interior minister,
Herbert Schnoor, said that
the police will take harsher
measures to limit the ac-
tivities of neo-Nazis. The
move comes after local coun-
cils in the state's towns of
Essen, Bottrop, Bielefeld and
Dortmund imposed bans on
renting town-owned facilities,
such as meeting halls, to neo-
Nazi groups.
Other town councils in the
federal state are considering
similar proposals. In a state-
ment released in the city of
Duesseldorf, Schnoor charged
that "the increased pro-
vocative and violent activities
of neo-Nazis in some towns
have become unbearable!'
Last year more than 1,000
investigations were opened
against neo-Nazis operating
in North Rhine-Westphalia.
According to Dieter Jablon-
ski, an official of the town of
Dortmund, an "anti-fascist
working group" of officials
from 14 towns and localities
has designed a plan to protect
youths against the influence
of right-wing extremists.

Arens, Gur Join
Israeli Cabinet

Jerusalem (JTA) — By
mutual agreement, two min-
isters were added to the uni-
ty coalition government, one
each from the Labor Party
and the Likud. Last Sunday's
Cabinet meeting marked the
appearance of Moshe Arens
and of Mordechai Gur, both
with the title of ministers
without portfolio.
Arens, a close associate of
Prime Minister Yitzhak
Shamir in Likud's Herut
wing, is a former defense
minister. Gur, a Laborite, is a
former health minister.

Acid Imbalance
Aids Disease

Jerusalem — A generally
disregarded imbalance in the
consumption of two impor-
tant fatty acids could be
responsible in part for the
prevalence of a number of
ailments of modern man,
such as arthritis, atheroscler-
osis and certain types of
cancer, according to Prof.
Pierre Budowski of the
Hebrew University of
Jerusalem. This imbalance
could be corrected by eating
more fish and other seafoods
and green vegetables, the pro-
fessor said.
