Mr. Citrin, of Bloomfield
Hills, was a close friend of the
late Henry Ford II, and was
the only friend named as a
trustee of Mr. Ford's estate.
Mr. Ford's widow, Kathy Du-
Ross Ford, also attended the
funeral.
"He could overcome any
obstacle. He was the kind of
person who, while sitting at
the dinner table, could make
the crowd totally unconscious
of his handicap," says William
Avrunin, former executive
vice president of the Detroit
Federation and friend of
Jacob's.
Avrunin recalls his many
meetings with Mr. Citrin at
the Butzel Building down-
town. Mr. Citrin refused to
use the elevator. He would
walk up the stairs.
Mr. Citrin was one of about
50 national Jewish leaders
selected to be part of a na-
tional oral history of the Jews.
Avrunin scheduled the inter-
view last week for 10 a.m. on
April 26.
"He was excited for the in-
terview," Avrunin says. "He
made the appointment with
no anticipation of an ending."
Mr. Citrin is survived by his
wife, Myra; sons Michael and
Jacob; daughters Samantha
and Alise Wagenberg; his
mother, Matilda; his brother,
rIbby, and a grandson. •

Israeli Concert
Is Canceled

New York (JTA) — A U.S.
performance by top Israeli
singers was cancelled because
of growing anti-Israel feeling
in the United States, an
Israeli newspaper reported.
But a representative of the
Jewish community in Hart-
ford, Conn., where the concert
was scheduled to take place
this June, denied the report.
The newspaper, Yediot
Aharonot, reported that star
singers Yardena Arazi and
Dudu Fischer were to appear
in a joint concert in Hartford,
in celebration of Israel's 40th
anniversary. But the show
was canceled for fear that it
will become a failure because
of the situation in the ter-
ritories, the paper claimed.
However, according to Pinni
Koren, director of Israeli af-
fairs at the Jewish Communi-
ty Center of Hartford, the
show was not canceled, but
postponed.
