Night Slated

B'nei Akiva members will
be joined by the Akiva Stu-
dent Council for a gym and
sports night April 17 at the
Maple/Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. The event,
which will include basketball
games with the Akiva varsi-
ty team, is open to youth in
grades six-11. The group will
meet at the Young Israel of
Southfield at 6:30 p.m. for
departure to the Jewish
Center. For reservations, call

B'nei Akiva members will
take part in this year's Yom
Haatzmaut Celebration on
April 21 at the Young Israel
of Oak-Woods. The group is
helping to create a multi
media presentation revolving
around Israel's 40th anniver-
sary. Representing B'nei
Akiva at the celebration will
be: Susan Schlussel, Danny
Betsalel, Jeff Traurig, Sherri
Greenstein, Danny Najman,
Noam Koenigsberg, Judith
Schlussel, Hillel Van
Leluwen, Yariv Misgav,
Yonatan Van Leeuwen, Remy
Borsand, Jack Tytell,
Ephraim Singal, Abby
Eisenberg, Nancy Berman
and Batya Lopin.
During the evening, B'nei
Akiva also will announce the
winners of this year's B'nei
Akiva "Poster for Israel" con-
test. Entries for this contest
are still being accepted at the
B'nei Akiva office.

Hillel Students
Win Awards

Three students from Hillel
Day School have been named
local winners in the 19th
America and Me Essay Con-
test, sponsored by Farm
Bureau Insurance Group.
The three students are:
Rochelle Broder, first; Isa
Schwarzberg, second; and
Micole Schultz, third. All
three, who are students in
Mrs. Ronna Rosenbaum's
eighth grade English class,
received award certificates for
