Elliott Gould

Elliott Gould, star of stage
and screen, is the featured
speaker at the annual
Women's World program,
sponsored by the sisterhood of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, on
April 27. The day begins at 10
a.m. at the synagogue with
the "Amazing Marketplace"
and continental breakfast,
and continues on through
luncheon and Gould's speech.
Gould's first lead Broadway
role was as a garment district
peddler in I Can Get It For
You Wholesale. It was in that
production that he met and
married Barbra Streisand,
whom he later divorced. He
later enrolled in Lee
Strasberg's famed Actor's
Studio.
In 1969, Gould received an

Oscar nomination for his role
in Bob and Carol and Ted and
Alice. In Mash, which won
first prize at the Cannes Film
Festival, Gould is
remembered for his role as
Trapper John. He was named
Male Star of 1970 by the Na-
tional Association of Theatre
Owners. His first noncomic
role in 1971 was in Ingmar
Bergman's first English
language film,-The Touch.
Gould has starred in two
television series, hosted
Saturday Night Live six times
(one of these shows garnered
an Emmy) and appeared in
the original television version
of Once Upon A Mattress with
Carol Burnett. He also ap-
peared on HBO and in a PBS
movie.

May 11 Elections

Sharon Hart has been
nominated to a second term
as president of the Jewish
Welfare Federation Women's
Division The division's 42nd
annual meeting will take
place 11:30 a.m. May 11 at
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The program includes the
president's annual address
and the words and humor of
Hadassah Magazine Execu-
tive Editor Alan M. Tigay.
Election and installation of
officers and board members
will take place, and all
Women's Division Campaign
and education volunteers will
be thanked for their efforts.
Nominees for vice
presidents include Cheryl
Guyer, Diane Klein, Geri
Lester and Beverly Liss.
Susan Pappas has been
nominated as corresponding
secretary and Sharon Lipton

as recording secretary.
Nominated designates to
Federation's Board of Gover-
nors are Doreen Hermelin
