Like his father, Dan does not play on Yom Kippur, but since that is so early in the season, the media hardly notice. After growing up in the east, Schayes enjoys the western lifestyle, although there are fewer endorsement opportunities. "I don't find time to do com- mercials during the season, although I've done them for a car dealer and car stereos," he says. "I've also done some volunteer work at the Jewish Community Center and for the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith." He also appreciates the cur- rent edition of the Nuggets, who are battling Dallas for first place in the Midwest Division. "We have a great bunch of nice, hard-working guys on the Nuggets. And Doug Moe, our coach, is great to play for. As for the future, right now I'm very wrapped up in what I'm doing. It's hard to imagine when the end (of my career) will come." Even though he has seen The Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame will an- nounce its 1988 inductees at an open meeting at the Maple/Drake Jewish Com- munity Center, room 239, at 11 a.m. Sunday.
