Dr. Benjamin B. Caplan,
who had an active medical
psychiatric practice in Colum-
bus, Ohio, for 40 years, has
died. He was 76.
Born in Toronto, Ont., Dr.
Caplan was raised in Detroit.
He was graduated from the
University of Toronto Medical
School and competed post-
graduate work at Columbia
and Harvard Universities.
He had worked as a medical
missionary in many of the
114 countries he visited. Dur-
ing his lifetime he received
100 city, state national and
five international awards.
Dr. Caplan was member of
the United States Olympic
Boxing Medical Jury for three
Olympiads. He was chosen for
the White House Conference
on Youth and also for the
White House conference on
Aging. He is listed in Who's
Who in World Jewry and in
Men of Achievement, publish-
ed by Cambridge University.
He is survived by his wife,
Rose; a son, Dr. William of
Lafayette, Calif; a daughter,
Gayle of San Francisco, Calif;
a sister, Mrs. Nathan (Ann)
Feldman of Southfield; and
and four grandchildren. Inter-
ment Ohio.

Nagle Co., real estate, died
April 1 at age 82,
Born in New York City, Mr.
Nucian lived 72 years in
Detroit. He was a member of
the Detroit, Wayne County
and Michigan bar associa-
tions, B'nai B'rith, past board
member of Sinai Hospital,
past president of the Street
and Traffic Commission for
the city of Detroit during the
Cavanaugh administration,
past board member of the
University of Detroit, a
member of Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He was
graduated from the Detroit
College of Law.
He leaves two brothers,
Saul and Lew; nieces and
nephews.

David Smith

David Smith, co-owner with
his wife of Litho/Color Inc., a
Detroit printing and special-
ty sign company, died April 1
at age 65.
A native Detroiter and resi-
dent of Warren, Mr. Smith
was graduated from Detroit's
Cass Technical High School.
During World War II he serv-
ed in the Army in Europe. He
co-founded his company in
1959.

He often donated printing
to community and non-profit
groups. Mr. Smith was a
member of the Detroit
Building Superintendents
Association and a lifetime
member of the Detroit area
chapter of the Michigan
Steelheaders Association.
Mr. Smith is survived by his
wife, Bridget; two sons, Terry
and Robert of Houston, Tex.;
three sisters, Mrs. Belle
Fagan, Mrs. Rose Surath and
Mrs„ Mollie Herman of Palo
Alto, Calif.; and one
granddaughter.

Edward Droz

Edward Droz, a phar-
maceutical salesman, died
April 4 at age 66.
A native Detroiter, Mr. Droz
was in the wholesale drug
business for 50 years. He
worked for the former Cunn-
ingham drug stores for seven
years, for McKesson-Robbins
for 20 years and for the past
23 years, National Wholesale
Drugs. He was a salesman,
buyer and sales manager.
Mr. Droz was a member of
Disabled American Veterans,
Jewish War Veterans. During
World War II, he served in the
Marines, stationed in the
South Pacific.
For 20 years, he was a
member of Masonic Lodge of
the Masons. He was a
member of Congs. Beth Aaron
and Beth Achim for 37 years.
At age 18 he tried out for the
Detroit Tigers, but broke his
wrist, and never made the
team.
He is survived by his wife,
Rosalyn; two daughters, Fon-
da Schwartz and Karen; three
brothers, Harry of LaMirada,
Calif., Mitchell of Phoenix,
Ariz., and Louis; and one
granddaughter.

Belle Fruitman

Belle R. Fruitman, past
president of B'nai B'rith
Women's Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, died
March 30 at age 73.
Born in Detroit, Mrs. Fruit-
man was a member of Infants
Service Group, a life member
of B'nai B'rith Women,
member and past president of
Philip Handler Chapter of
B'nai B'rith. Women, a
member of Women of Oak
Park, a board member of
Anti-Defamation League, a
former board member of the
B'nai B'rith Youth Organiza-
tion, a member of Order of the
Eastern Star and a member
of the Mezeritcher Society.
She leaves two sons, Ronald
and Larry of New York; a
brother, Sam Bolker of
Carlsbad, Calif.; a sister, Mrs.
Max (Sarah) Bell; and three
grandchildren.
