Hooberman 50th
Sam and Bette Hooberman
of Delray Beach, Fla., and
Farmington Hills celebrated
their 50th wedding anniver-
sary recently. A celebration in
their honor was held at Max-
ime's in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Their children, Rita and
Paul Zausner of New York,
Neal and Linda Hooberman
of California, and Paul and
Carol Hooberman of
Michigan, hosted the
activities.
Along with friends and
relatives their grandchildren,
Stephen, Stuart, Alan and
Debbie Zausner; Jill and Jim-
my Hooberman; and John
and Julie Hooberman
honored them on this special
occasion.
Attorneys Honor Two
On Behalf Of Bonds
The Metro Detroit State of
Israel Bond Attorneys Divi-
sion will honor Judge Avern
L. Cohn and Justice Charles
L. Levin at a tribute dinner
scheduled for 6 p.m. May 11
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek, it
was announced by Attorneys
Division co-chairmen Saul
Bluestone and Sheldon L.
Miller.
On the occasion of the din-
ner, Judge Cohn, U.S. District
Judge, Eastern District of
Michigan, and Justice Levin,
who serves on the Michigan
Supreme court, will each be
presented with the State of
Israel's Eleanor Roosevelt
Humanities Award "for
outstanding service to
humanity and devoted friend-
ship and support for Israel in
the spirit and ideals of
Eleanor Roosevelt."
Judge Cohn was admitted
to the Michigan Bar in 1949
and was associated with the
law office of Irwin I. Cohn un-
til 1961, when he joined the
law firm of Honigman, Miller,
Schwartz and Cohn, a posi-
tion he held until his appoint-
ment to the U.S. District
Court in 1979.
Judge Cohn is a member of
the Detroit, the Michigan, the
Federal and the American
Bar Associations; he has serv-
ed as chairman of the State
Bar of Michigan's Special
Committee on Court Conges-
tion; he is past director of the
Detroit Bar Association and
past trustee of the Detroit
Bar Association Foundation.
He also served on the
Michigan Social Welfare
Commission and is a past
chairman of the Detroit
Board of Police Commis-
sioners and the Michigan
Civil Rights Commission.
He is a board member of the
United Jewish Charities, past
president and current ex-
ecutive committee member of
the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion of Detroit and is past na-
tional vice president of the
