failing as parents," he says.
Scheimer doesn't fail to
take note that his Pinocchio
may very well be the last
animated film created solely
in this country. Cheaper labor
overseas makes foreign pro-
ducts appear more attractive
to animators.
What is attractive to
Scheimer is an animated film
about the Jewish experience
— a topic tackled by Spielberg
for about five minutes of Tail
and then abandoned.
"I've thought about it," he
says. "We as Jews have such
a rich heritage. But appealing
to the Jews in this country
alone wouldn't support doing
such a film." Costs for such a
project would run about $10
million.
Scheimer is off and running
with another project now, a
full-length animated film
about Snow White. Does ap-
peal to the kid in him?
"You know, when you do
this stuff, I guess you have to
be immature to begin with."
He laughs the laugh of a man
whom I wouldn't trust near a
cookie jar.

Dreyfuss Has
A New Movie

Richard Dreyfuss sounds
thrilled with his latest film
Moon Over Parador, a
sophisiticated spoof that
Dreyfuss compares with the
slick Alec Guinness movies of
yesteryear.
"It's a unique opportunity,"
he told members of the
Hollywood Foreign Press
Association recently. "I got
the part of an actor portray-
ing a South American dic-
tator in the film within the
film and had the most fun in
my professional life as the
villian."
The youthful looking
Dreyfuss has kept a hectic
and fulfilling pace, com-
pleting three pictures in the
year prior to his trip to Brazil.
They were Tin Men, a farce
dealing with a group of
smart-aleck promoters.
Next was Stakeout, in
which he played a brash
police officer. He appreciated
it because it allowed him to be
a screen lover and learn
"what it was like to be the
guy who kisses and gets the
gal at the end."
The third film was Nuts, a
dramatic thriller in which he
appeared as Barbra Strei-
sand's seasoned attorney. It is
destined to become a
highlight in Dreyfuss' career.
Dreyfuss is at home in the
legal field because "there is a
lawyer in every nook and
cranny of my family," he said,
including his father.
