owner/chef Duglass (Doug
Grech) as "The style of
Toulouse Lautrec that lends
itself to easy conversation, a
chance to meet a new friend
or lure a lover" . . . It is
presently open only for din-
ner Tuesday through Sunday
from 4 p.m. . . . Les
Troupadours trio, headed by
Dino Valle, brings diners
ballads and operatic selec-
tions in English, French and
Italian, Tuesday through
Sunday.
BILLY ROSE musical
group is back Sunday even-
ings again . . . to go along
with Monday evenings . . . at
Don Vargo's 1940 Chop House
on E. Jefferson . . . Sundays
are like a musician's night .. .
with instrumentalists invited
to sit in with the fine Billy
Rose musical aggregation.
LIZZIE HUNTER, a
stalwart counter girl for Ron
Forman at the Bread Basket
in Lincoln Center on Green-
field in Oak Park, has
another talent people are
recognizing.
Liz's first album, "Soldier,
Soldier, Won't You Come
Home" and "Bring Back That
Family Love" . . . with Patti
Rich on vocals . . . along with
Robert Anderson, Rita Rogers
and Steffen Presley . . . were
written by Ronnie's employee
of over 20 years since he open-
ed the original Nosherie at
Bread Basket's present locale.
Her music has been record-
ed by Rainbow Records.

41ST CINDERELLA
BALL this year will be like a

Hollywood gala . . . tuxedoed
gents, beautifully-gowned
gals and stars galore like
Carol Channing, Pia Zadora,
Arlene Dahl, Celeste Holm,
Aretha Franklin, Shirley
Jones and Beverly Sills.
They'll be on tap to help
honor Shirley Eder, who'll be
named Michigan's Woman of
The Year by Women's Com-
mittee of American Lung
Association, Eastern
Michigan.
It's set for April 16 at the
Westin Hotel . . . Shirley
sharing the spotlight with
Torn Monaghan, who'll
receive the Henry Ford II
Achievement Award as
"Prince of a Guy."

honored with the Women's
Committee's "Fairy God-
mother" conferred upon her.

KASHRUTH CERTIFI-

CATION received by New

York Seltzer Co. includes
strictly kosher and pareve for
year-round use . . . excluding
Passover.
JIMMY LAUNCE, WJR
d.j., called the shot that Sam-
my Davis Jr. would probably
open his show with Frank
Sinatra at Joe Louis Arena by
singing "Hello, Detroit" . . . It
came after a narrative about
Dean Martin, who couldn't
make the trip with them
because of his kidney problem
. . . Sammy was excellent, as
usual, with "What Kind Of
Fool Am I," "I've Gotta' Be
Me," etc. . . . Following inter-
mission, Sinatra took over
with "New York, New York,"
"Mack The Knife," etc. .. .
and then what was probably
the best part of the show .. .
Sammy and Frank singing
bits of "Black Magic," "All Or
Nothing At all," among other
hits of theirs . . . while the
other did humorous
narratives.
60TH ANNUAL celebra-
tion by Women's Association
of Detroit Symphony was
recently kicked off with lun-
cheon hosted by developer
Herman Frankel, "1987
Builder Of The Year" . . . 140
guests were at Herman's new
Woodcliff-On-The-Lake.

strolled the rooms of his fur-
nished condos with their
pastel accented rooms, floral
displays and living room fire
places.

Volume Services' concessions
operation at The Palace of
Auburn Hills, scheduled to
open this August . . . He'll
supervise all aspects of food
and beverage operations for
Palace concessions . . . plus
overseeing safety training
procedures including alcohol
awareness programs.
THINGS I'D LIKE to see
Dept. . . . Persons who handle
food wearing plastic gloves
. . . People serving food not
handling cash . . . Waitper-
sons checking saucers to
make certain there's no coffee
or tea in them . . . Waitper-
sons either bringing water or
asking if any is wanted .. .
Waitresses with long hair
wearing it tied back . . .
unless they want to wear a
net, which not too many of
them would do . . . Cops wear-
ing regular hats, not baseball
caps on duty . . . If they're
fishing caps, they shouldn't be
fishing for motorists.
MICHAEL'S Food &
Spirits will open around May
1 . . . a continental and
American upscale restaurant
. . . on 13 Mile and Southfield
. . . across from Country
Corners.
