The exhibit will be the first of its kind in Michigan, featuring Israel's high technology businesses and its unique consumer products, celebrity fashion shows, music, food and a travel and art bazaar. Israel Trade Week is part of a community-wide celebra- tion of Israel's 40th anniver- sary, chaired by Marlene and Paul Borman. A formal signing of a sister state agreement between Israel and Michigan to pro- mote trade and investments will kick off the week of May 1 at 7 p.m. Gov. James Blan- chard is honorary chairman for trade week. American/Israel Chamber of Commerce of Michigan members Alan Gilman and Brooke Grace will chair the festivities, which will be at- tended by Gabriel Levy, the Israeli Economic Minister to the United States and Michigan Commerce Director Doug Ross. During the week, the Hora Aviv Israeli Folkdance Troupe will perform before an Israeli Fashion Show. The show will feature Israeli fashions for men and women, fashion ac- cessories and jewelry — which will be modeled by celebrities from the media, sports and business worlds. Abraham Ben Zeev and his ABZ Band will entertain dur- ing the evenings. Food and wine will be served. There will be Israeli cook- ing demonstrations and a special broadcast from the mall by Ken Lawrence, host of Travel Talk on WXYT. Israel Trade Week is open to the public at no charge. Tickets, $40 each, are re- quired for the gala opening and can be purchased at the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce at the Maple/Drake Jewish Com- munity Center. IN BRIEF ALAN FRANK of Bloom- field 'Ibwnship has been pro- moted to vice president and general manager of WDIV- TV, Channel 4. He will replace Amy McCombs, who is leaving to run KRON-TV in San Francisco. Frank has been with the station since 1979, and has held several positions. He was vice president of programm- ing and production for the Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. before the promotion.
