Inter- ment St. Petersburg, Fla. MARVIN J. WETSMAN, 76, died March 25. He leaves a son, Henry Miles of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Wendy W.) Sable of Lantana, Fla.; a brother, William; and two grandchildren. Sidney Mittler Sidney Mittler, a professor of biology at Northern T1 linois University, died March 19 at age 70. A former Detroiter, Mr. Mit- tler earned bachelor's and master's degrees in 1938 and 1938 at Wayne State Univer- sity and his doctorate at the University of Michigan in 1944. He went to NIU in 1960 and had since published more than 100 articles in scientific journals and obtained more than $3.5 million in research grants. Mr. Mittler was a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was a member of to Genetics Society of America, the Radiation Research Socie- ty, the Environmental Mutagen. Society, the American Society of Zoologists, the Illinois Academy of Science and the American Institute of Biologists. He received an award for scientific merit from the Ar- mour Researh Foundation's chemistry department in 1955. A resident of DeKalb, Ill. at the time of his death, Mr. Mit- tler is survived by his wife, Judith; three daughters, Dr. Jeanne Estes of Baton Rouge, La., Judy Whitkov and Shel- ly Jakubowski, both of Chicago; two step-sons, David Daskovsky and Mark Daskov- sky, both of Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Ida Mittler of Detroit; a sister, Sara Eisenberg of Farmington Hills; a brother, David of Southfield; and two grandchildren.
