Demeulemeester, her Belgian photographer husband, and their two-year old son live in the only house in Belgium de- signed by the famous architect and painter, Le Corbusier. The house, built in the 1920's, is still one of the most avant garde buildings in the country. Walter Van Beirendonck is by far the most extreme of the Six of Antwerp group. He started in womenswear but after three col- lections, drifted into menswear. Now, Van Beirendonck specializes in outrageous fashion statements for men and boys. The inspiration for his current collection is Jules Verne, one of the great "futuristic" thinkers of his time, combined with the Flintstones and African tribes.
