Because the exhibit concerns
itself with women's clothing, Lyon
says the original thought was
that only women would be
interested in the exhibit.
"Surprisingly, it has turned out
to be popular with school kids,
and substantial numbers of
men," she said. "I think because
we all have a great and lively
curiosity when it concerns the
past."

ON THE LEADING EDGE. .

This 1877 maroon and grey
silk teagown was worn by
Mrs. Frederick Rolshoven of
Detroit and featured in "The
Seven Ages of Woman"
exhibition.

Through the clothing, the
exhibit is trying to show the
changes of fashion as well as
the changes in women's lives
that the fashions reflect.
"Nobody wears something
because they want to change
the world," said Lyon. "They
wear something because the
world has already changed."
As visitors make their way
through the wonderful exhibit
they get the opportunity to look
at the unique clothing housed in
large display units.
The showcases are well lit, well
propped, and exciting to look at.
