directly influenced by the
European collections where they
were shown with over-sized
coats, constructed over-shirts,
and softly constructed blousons
and dusters. Although walk
shorts are a little slow to catch
on in the Detroit area, according
to retailers, they were an intricate
part of most menswear
collections this season. They
range in length from clamdigger
to above the knee. Advanced
stylings in casual trousers reflect
a retro feeling from 1950s and
1930s — easy shapes, fuller
silhouettes, Hollywood
waistbands, besom pockets, and
button tab waistbands.
The biggest nod in menswear
still goes to the sweater. "Our
sweaters are going through the
roof," exclaims Kosins. "Italian
designers have done beautifully
colored and designed cotton
sweaters that will undoubtedly
sell like hotcakes."
This time, in addition to cotton
yarns in all weights, sweaters are
also shown a lot mixed with silk,
linen, raimie, and acrylic for a
more textured, polished finish.

include the crewneck, polo,
cardigan and the strongly
revived mock turtle.
