Roslyn Rock, of Roslyn's
Intimate Apparel, has been in
the lingerie business for 32
years. She witnessed the
revolution in lingerie, watching
the basic nightgowns transform
into ready-to-wear sportswear.
One major part of Roslyn's
business today is swimwear. "A
lingerie store is the best place to
buy a bathing suit, because you
get the proper fit," says Rock.
Rock also adds insight into
today's customer: "Women want
to look their best. They want to
look good in sportswear and
equally good in lingerie."
Cheryl Hall, fashion director at
Saks Fifth Avenue, Troy, notes
the important attitude about
lingerie. "If you feel good about
what you are wearing
underneath, you feel better on
top," says Hall.
There is no question that
lingerie has dramatically
changed in the past decade. It
is now an important accessory
in a woman's wardrobe.
According to Fernando Sanchez,
lingerie will continue to change
and evoke responses. "You
should always be creative and
demanding. Designers can
make a collection talented,
tasteful and sexy with a grand
style."
