THE NEWEST
FASHION ACCESSORY
MOVES FROM THE
BEDROOM TO
THE BOARDROOM.
la 44 ingerie is the newest
fashion accessory.
From camisoles to
teddies, from bodysuits
to bustiers, the new lingerie
offers something for every
wardrobe. It's fun and frilly, lacy
and racy.
Today's well-dressed women
are wearing frilly camisoles
under conservative suits,
lounging at home in silk robes
and sporting boxer shorts over
bathing suits at the pool. There's
no doubt about it — lingerie has
moved from the bedroom to the
boardroom.
The "father of the new
lingerie," as labeled in the New
York Times, is Fernando
Sanchez. This Spanish-born
designer, now residing in New
York, startled the fashion world
fifteen years ago when he
designed fashionable, glamorous
and sexy lingerie.
Dowdy nightgowns, quilted
housecoats and the traditional
peignoir set in baby blue are
passe — thanks to Sanchez.
"We brought a completely
different approach to lingerie.
We brought glamour, sex and
the idea of separates, which was
a sportswear attitude," he says.
The new lingerie concept took
about two years to become a
commercial success. In the
fashion world among designers
the successful response was
instantaneous. Sanchez received
For him: Brushed cotton
striped bathrobe. For her:
cotton nightgown with lace
