The Martyrs and Heroes
Remebrance Law (5713/1953)
entrusts Yad Vashem with the
duty "to promote a custom
of joint remembrance of the
heroes and victims" of the
Holocaust. To this end, Yad
Vashem is issuing a special
six-branch memorial candel-
abra to be kindled in every
Jewish home on the 27th of
Nissan, the observance of
Yom Hashoa V'Hagvurah,
which this year is April 14,
1988.
By means of this candel-
abra, Yad Vashem hopes to
achieve a unified day of ob-
servance which will then be
adopted by Jews worldwide,
in memory of our kedoshim
and martyrs and in tribute
to Jewish resistance.
All those who make a
donation of $36 to the
American Society for Yad
Vashem will receive this
