Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, 47 and leader of Seattle's Chasidic community for 16 years, was arrested March 18 along with three suspected members of the reputed operation. The rabbi spent three days in the Snohomish (Wash.) County jail before being released on $50,000 bail posted Monday. In a telephone interview from his northeast Seattle home, Levitin professed his in- nocence. "Everything will be okay," Levitin said, "I am definitely innocent:' He refused to comment on his alleged role. "It will all come out in court," he said. Thirteen suspects including the rabbi were named in the federal complaint, following an investigation by the U.S. Customs Service, the Internal Revenue Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Photog Denies Throwing Rocks New York (JTA) — A New York free-lance photographer denied charges that he was throwing stones at Israeli soldiers who grabbed him by the hair, broke his cameras and seized a roll of film dur- ing demonstrations in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus on March 7. William Biggart, 40, told reporters that he had been taking photographs during a 45-minute demonstration when Israeli soldiers closed in on rock-throwing rioters. Big- gart stumbled while running from the soldiers, he said, and was detained by three soldiers who "went a little crazy."
