by Yad Vashem (Jerusalem)
with a medal and Citation of
Honor; a tree was also
planted in their honor in the
Avenue of Righteous
Gentiles.

that the academy is sponsored
by Shaarit Haplaytah of
Metropolitan Detroit in
cooperation with Holocaust
Memorial Center, Jewish
Community Council, Greater
Detroit Interfaith Round
Table of Christians and Jews,
the Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies and
Jewish Center.

ceremony by survivors of the
concentration camps and
ghettos, accompanied by
children of Holocaust sur-
vivors will be led by Mrs.
Popowski. The candlelighters
are: Regina Baskin, Selma
Rich, Shari Weiss, Bernard
Hirsch, Nathan Lachman,
Rudolf Leiser, Sherri A.
Balberman, Evelyn
(Ribitwer) Sahn, Sandra Yar-
zig, Arthur M. Horwitz,
Harry. Lewkowicz and Lewis
Wagner. Nathan Harris will
light a candle in memory of
the fallen Israeli soldiers and
civilians.
The entire community is
invited.

Forty Cub Scouts from
Hillel Day School will host a
Scout Shabbat at 10 a.m.
Saturday at Adat Shalom
Synagogue
The special services in the
synagogue's junior congrega-
tion will help the scouts earn
a national religious award
from scouting. Jeff Fishman,
committee chairman for the
Hillel pack, said the event
will mark the first time in
many years that an Aleph
Award program has been held
in the Detroit area for Jewish
scouts.
