Cong. Beth Achim an-
nounces that applications for
its scholarships are now
available to young people who
have completed the first year
of college.
These scholarships are for
study at Israeli institutions of
higher learning. The Harry
and Sarah Laker Israel Youth
Scholarship provides a $2,500
grant to a student for study at
one of Israel's universities.
The Samuel and Dora
Kobaker Memorial Scholar-
ship provides for a student to
study at either a university in
Israel or an equivalent in-
stitution and offers a $1,500
grant.
The Robert and Gertrude
Berman Scholarship is of-
fered for a Judaic studies pro-
gram to be pursued either in
Israel, the United States or
any other country which pro-
vides for a serious program of
Jewish learning. This scholar-
ship also provides a $1,500
grant to the winner.
Applicants must have ap-
plied for admission to the in-
stitutions of their choice and
the winners must be prepared
to pursue study for an
academic year at the institu-
tions where they have been
accepted.

Shari Wenokur, daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence E.
Wenokur of Southfield, was
awarded a degree from the
American University during
commencement exercises in
January.
Wenokur, a master's degree
student in international
development in the universi-
ty's school of International
Service, is a 1979 graduate of
Southfield High School.

Puppet Show

"Loving Your Jewish
Library" is the title of the
performance by the Red Rug
Puppet Theater featuring
puppeteer Beth Katz this
Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Jim-
my Prentis Morris Building of
the Jewish Community
Center. Th.e program is
especially for those families
who have participated in
Sefer Safari, the community-
wide Jewish reading project.
