The women of National
Council of Jewish Women,
Greater Detroit Section
spent a recent morning at
Kitchen Glamour where
Chef CARL T. OSHINSKY,
the Pizza Gourmet, proved
that kreplach and pasta are
culinary cousins and that
traditional Jewish cooking
can be a little gourmet, a
little low-cal and easier
than our mothers ever
imagined.
He then produced challah,
chicken soup, kreplach and
tzimmes with astonishing
speed and expertise. His
piece de resistance was
brisket, tzimmes and kugel
all in one pan. Having
second and third helpings
as the session ended were

B'NEI AKIVA

B'nei Akiva of rIbronto
hosted a Shevet (tenth
grade) weekend for over 100
students. Attending from
Detroit were SUSAN
SCHLUSSEL, SHERRI
GREENSTEIN, REMY
BORSAND, and HILLEL
VAN LEEUWEN. The
students managed to watch
a laser show, visit the
Science Center and other
sites. "My favorite part was
seeing my friends and
meeting new friends," says
Susan Schlussel.

REFUSNIK AWARENESS

GLORIA COHEN recently
showed her slides of her
trip to the Soviet Union
and discussed her meetings
with Soviet refuseniks at
the Birmingham
Community House for a
meeting of the Birmingham
Republican Women's
Organization. "There were
many women in the
audience who never even
heard of refuseniks," says
Cohen. According to Cohen,
there were many
unfamiliar faces except for
her devoted bridge club —
