B'nai David. He will speak on "How the Press Distorts America's View of the Middle East?' Gordon was educated at the University of Michigan and the School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University. He served as official spokesman for Israel's Judicial Commission of In- quiry into the massacre at the refugee camps in Beirut and was chief translator of the Kahan Commission report on Sabra and Shatilla. Gordon is the son of Rabbi and Mrs. James Gordon, formerly of the Young Israel Of Oak Woods. The cultural commission of B'nai David, chaired by Alex Blumenberg and Dorothy Orent, has arranged for Gor- don's appearance. The com- munity is invited at no charge. Men's Clubs Host Convention The men's clubs of Adat Shalom, Beth Abraham Hillel Moses, Beth Achim, Beth Shalom, B'nai Moshe and Shaarey Zedek will host the 59th annual Spring Con- vention of the Great Lakes Region of the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs. The theme of this year's conven- tion is "Business Ethics: A Jewish Perspective?' The convention will begin March 18 with Sabbath ser- vices at Cong. Shaarey Zedek. Keynote speaker will be Nate Borofsky, director of Wayne State University's Technology Transfer Center. Following March 19 Shab- bat services at Shaarey Zedek, the convention will host a luncheon/seminar and panel workshop moderated by Dr. Harvey Nussbaum, pro- fessor at Wayne State Univer- sity. Panelists are Rabbi William Gershon, Robert Naf- taly, Florine Mark and Neal Zalenko. The highlight of the conven- tion is the Saturday night dinner-dance hosted by Cong. Beth Achim. The convention weekend will conclude with morning services and breakfast at Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel Moses, followed by the in- stallation of officers. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jerome Agrest, international presi- dent of the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs. A seudah shlishit and the Maariv and Havdalah ser- vices will follow. Students Get Siddurim The Religious School Parents organization at Cong. Beth Shalom voted to support a new program at the religious school to give all third graders their own copies of the Sim Shalom prayer book. RSP will purchase copies of the siddur this year for all students in grades three through bar/bat mitzvah and in following years for all third grade students and new students in higher grades. The prayer books will be distributed to students at a special party.
