Speaking before the United Nations Human Rights Com- mission last week, Klarsfeld referred to a letter written last October by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a candidate for the Democratic Party presiden- tial nomination, to President Hafez Assad of Syria. Jackson travelled to Syria in 1984 and" gained the release of captured American flier Robert Goodman from the Syrian government. He reportedly established cordial relations with Assad. But the letter about Brun- ner has yet to be answered, Klarsfeld said.
