Deitch DETROIT MONUMENT WORKS Bibliophile Feinberg Was Whitman Expert Recognized as an outstan- ding authority on Walt Whit- man and possessor of the poet's most famous manuscripts, one rated for $1 million having been assigned for the Library of Congress, Charles E. Feinberg had ac- quired fame as an art expert on a world scale. Born in London, England, Mr. Feinberg came to the U.S. in 1923. He died March 1 at age 89. As a collector of art, ceremonial objects and literary manuscripts, he ac- quired world fame and his possessions matched the leading libraries and museums. He has been honored numerous times by the Hebrew University of Jeusalem, including a testimonial last month in Florida, and his interests em- braced a score of universities where he was honored for his services to their libraries and museums. He was among the chief ac- tivists of American Friends of Hebrew University in behalf of many of its needs. In the last two decades he became a major supporter and advocate of the local educational system of the Berdichev Chabad movement and he gave special attention to its Camp Gan Israel. Mr. Feinberg was manager of the Regal Shoe Co. from 1923 to 1925; salesman and manager of the Silent Automatic Corp., former vice president of the Argo Oil Corp. and former president and vice president of Speed- way Petroleum Corp. He received a L.H.D. degree from Southern Illinois University and since 1955 was a member of the board of the Friends of the University of Detroit Library, having been president and vice presi- dent. He was appointed by the late Gov. G. Mennen Williams as a member and chairman of the Michigan Historical Commission and was a member of the National Jewish Committee, the Boy Scouts of America, the Na- tional Committee on Jewish Americana, B'nai B'rith, the Jewish Historical Society, Friends of Princeton Library, the Bibliographic Society of the University of Virginia, the Bibliographic Society of America, Huntington Library and University of Kentucky. Mr. Feinberg was an honorary chairman of the Lubavitch Foundation of Michigan and a member of its "chai" donors club. He endow- ed the library at the Chabad House in Ann Arbor and establised portions of libraries at other Chabad in- stitutions in the state. He is survived by his wife, Lenore; a son, Bartley of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Judith M. Kuehne of London, England, and Mrs. Susan Ness of Jerusalem; two brothers, Frank of Detroit and Rubin Forbes of Hun- tington Woods; a sister, Libby Dwor of Port Colborne, Ont.; and 12 grandchildren. Inter- ment Detroit. Dr. Allan Kline Dr. Allan Kline, a past president of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, died Feb. 27 at age 70. A resident of Tamarac, Fla., at the time of his death, Dr. Kline was a member of Cong. B'nai Moshe when he resided in Detroit. He was a dentist by trade. Dr. Kline is survived by his wife, Joanne; a son, Dr. Nor- man of Coral Springs, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Ronna) Galin, Jr., and Mrs. Mark (rIbrri) Caminker of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Elsie Gunsberg of Tamarac; and three grandchildren.
