The Young Israel-B'nei
Akiva Chevreyah Zach
(grades six-eight) will be join-
ed on Sunday by members of
the high school Chevreyah
Bet for a trip to see the
Pistons vs. the Celtics,
meeting at Akiva Hebrew
Day School at 11 a.m. All
tickets are by reservation
only. Contact Judith

The Chevreyah Zach group
will celebrate Purim this year
with a post-Purim mas-
querade party and Olym-
piada at Young Israel of
Southfield on March 5. The
party begins at 9 p.m. and
will include a costume con-
test, competitions and a buf-
fet. All youth in grades six-
eight are welcome. Each par-
ticipant must arrive in
costume.
B'nei Akiva will help the
elderly celebrate Purim this
year by collecting Mishloach
Manot baskets from its
members prior to the holiday,
and on Purim itself. A delega-
tion of youth will go to Bor-
man Hall to distribute the
Purim baskets and put on a
short holiday presentation for
the residents.

ticipating in this event should
contact the B'nei Akiva office,
967-3742. The B'nei Akiva
Young Israel Sunday Fun
Groups will hold a pre-Purim
event on Sunday at Young
Israel of Southfield. This will
be a mystery program and all
youngsters in grades one-five
are invited. The event will
begin at 2:30 p.m.
On Purim night, the
Chevreyah Aleph group
(grades one-five) will meet
one half hour before the
Megillah reading at Young
Israel of Southfield for a
costume parade and contest.
There will be prizes for best
costume, most original
costume and various other
categories. Refreshments will
be served. Following the
parade, the group will join the
synagogue for the reading of
the Megillah.
This weekend, B'nei Akiva
of Cleveland will host a
Shevat weekend for members
of Shevet Dror (grade ten).
Representing the Detroit
Shevet at the weekend are
Gabi Albert, Noam Koenigs-
berg, Loey Selesny, Rafi
Zuroff and Alissa Guyer.
B'nei Akiva of Toronto will
host a national convention for
members of Shevet HeCha-
lutz (grade ten) this weekend
as well.
Attending from the Detroit
Shevet are Susie Schlussel,
Remy Borsand, Sheri Green-
stein and Hillel Van Leeuwe.
Beth Achim Youth Plan
Shabbat Lunch, Service
Lahav United Synagogue
Youth will host the Greater
Detroit United Synagogue
Youth Shabbat and luncheon
on Saturday at 10 a.m. at
Cong. Beth Achim. There is
no charge. Youth in
ninth-12th grades are invited.
Rabbi Milton Arm will speak
to the group after the
luncheon.
Lahav USY will sponsor a
shalach manot service by
preparing and delivering
shalach manot packages that
include fruit, nuts, haman-
tashen and other goodies.
There is a fee. Persons who
are interested in the service,
should contact, Jason Gordon,
855-8811; or the youth
department, 352-8670.
Kadima Junior USY will
attend the Lasera Light Show
at Cranbrook Institute of
Science on Sunday at 2:30
p.m. For information, contact
the youth department.
B'nai Mazal (grades three-
five) will go to the Detroit
Science Center on Sunday.
There is a nominal charge.
Students who are interested

Nitzanim (three-seven-year-
olds) will attend a puppet
show and workshop on Sun-
day. The fee includes the
workshop and ice cream. To
participate, contact Denise
Eichner, 559-6776. The pup-
pet show is at the Jewish
Community Center. Drop off
and pick up is at the
synagogue.
The youth activities depart-
ment will sponsor a Purim
carnival on March 6 at noon.
There will be games, prizes
and food. Advance tickets will
go on sale on Sunday in the
main office of the synagogue.
