Finger Numbness, Tingling May Be
A Literal "Pain In The Neck"

Although automation has revolutionized the American
job market and greatly reduced the need for unskilled or semi-
skilled labor, the fact remains that most people do still use
their hands to earn a living.
Even in the so-called white collar sector of society, the
hands play an important role in our bread-winning
capabilities. Lawyers use their hands to thumb through legal
briefs. Bank officials use their fingers to hold the pen that
transfers funds from one account to another or approves
loans. Salesmen use their hands to display samples or write
orders.
When numbness and tingling in the
fingers strike, they can seriously impair
an otherwise healthy individual's ability
to earn a living.
A person may attempt to "work
through" the pain, only to discover that
the condition grows worse instead of
better with time.
To understand why this is so, one
must realize that the numbness and
tingling are not isolated problems in
I
themselves but are indicative of a more
Dr. Stanley Levine serious problem elsewhere in the body.
In many cases the problem may be a dislocation of the
bony segments of the neck called vertebrae. This dislocation
creates pressure on the nerves that pass between the vertebrae
on their way from the spinal cord to the fingers.
Victims of finger numbness and tingling are often
surprised to learn that they suffer from dislocated neck
vertebrae. Try as they might, they cannot remember injuring
their neck.
What they fail to realize is that not every neck injury is
spectacular or even known. A sudden turning of the head,
a minor fall or even a quick pull on the arms can result in
dislocated vertebrae that go unnoticed until trouble strikes.
Since 1895, the philosophy of Chiropractic care has been
to restore proper nerve function by correcting the spinal
misalignments that produce nerve interference.
