B'nai David will pre- sent a lecture series entitled: "Israel At 40: Controversies and Challenges;; on alternate Sunday mornings beginning Sunday in the Julius Rotenberg Hall of the synagogue. The series will focus on political and social problems facing Israel during its 40th anniversary year. Dr. Yosef Olmert, a lecturer in Middle Eastern studies at Tel Aviv University, will speak on "The Palestinian Question: Past, Present and Future," on Sunday. Subsequent lectures will be delivered on March 6 by M.J. I LOCAL NEWS I Comedian's Kin Appears Here Marilyn Cantor Baker, daughter of the late comedian Eddie Cantor, will appear at the Jewish community Center Jimmy Prentis Morris Building at 1 p.m. Tuesday and at the Maple/Drake Building at 8 p.m. Tuesday. She will appear for the Center's "Let Us Entertain You Series!' Barely out the of American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she became radio's first female announcer. She went on to have her own show and did interview shows as well. As a singing comedienne, she appeared in New York supper clubs and toured the - country from Boston to Las Vegas. She appeared with Jack Paar and Virginia Graham on their TV shows. Baker has spoken on behalf of State of Israel Bonds, gave talks on fashion and ran a personal shopping service. She also is accomplished writer and wrote the original story which became the TV show Love, Sidney. A slide presentation will follow the talk. JNF's professional and lay leadership will gather to salute Israel's 40th anniver- sary and 87 years of JNF af- forestation and land reclama- tion activity. Dr. Joseph P. Sternstein, JNF president, and Dr. Samuel I. Cohen, JNF ex- ecutive vice president, will co- chair the conference.
