Born in Robinson, Ill., Mr. Moers lived in Detroit for 68 years. He had residences in Southfield and Palm Beach, Fla. He was a member of Temple Beth El, Franklin Hills Coun- try Club, Great Lakes Club, Standard _ Club. In his early years, he played piano in night clubs in Detroit and in Cincinnati and played piano for silent movies. He also played piano on the first Boblo boat. Erika Corby Erika Corby, former co- owner and officer of Paul Cor- by Associates, died Feb. 9 at age 85. Born in Hungary, Mrs. Cor- by lived 48 years in Detroit. She was a member of Temple Beth El and Hadassah. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Eve) Kommel and Mrs. Herbert (Margot) Gardner; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Born in Russia, Dr. Berns- tein had worked for more than 35 years for Boys' Republic. She also was in private practice. She was a member of Tem- ple Beth El, Franklin Hills Country Club, Hadassah, Na- tional Council of Jewish Women. She was graduated from Loyola University Medical School. Dr. Bernstein was honored in 1986 with the Physicians Recognition Award. She was involved in activities on behalf of Kadima and Cran- brook Institute. In the medical field, she was a member of the American Association for Psychiatry, Michigan Medical Society and the Michigan Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association. She leaves a daughter, Marlene Shulak Isaacson of Greenwich, Conn.; three sons, Dr. Bruce Shulak of La Jolla, Calif., Yale Bernstein and Martin "Bud" Bernstein; a sister, Mrs. Avin (Evelyn) Sable of Milwaukee, Wis.; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Al Siegel Al Siegel, former owner of the now defunct Elmwood Casino in Windsor and founder of the Windsor Raceway, died Jan. 17 at age 86 in North Miami Beach, Fla. Mr. Siegel owned the club from 1946 until he declared bankruptcy in 1974. He resigned from the board of the raceway in 1971. Among his survivors are his wife, Nancy; and a son, Bob of Toronto. Rebbe's Wife New York — Rebbetzin Chaya Moussia Schneerson, wife of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, died Feb. 10 at age 86. The daughter of the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, Mrs. Schneer- son helped obtain her father's release after he was jailed under the Stalinist regime. She married her husband in 1928 and after escaping the Nazis, they came to the U.S. in 1941. NEWS 1' JNF Names Three Honorees Jewish National Fund of Detroit has named Wayne State University President Dr. David Adamany, Detroit Free Press Publisher David Lawrence, and cancer resear- cher Dr. Vainutis Vaitkevicius as its Tree Of Life Award recipients. The three will be cited at a March 28 dinner at Cong. Shaarey Zedek for their ser- vice to mankind. Tel Aviv Stocks Plummet Tel Aviv (JTA) The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange has taken a beating since the beginning of the year. The general shares index has dropped by 24.5 percent and the downward trend continues. In trading Sunday, the in- dex fell by 1.42 percent to 91.65, representing a loss of $1.27 billion in less than two months.
