Diane J. Klein, a delegate
to the Jewish Community
Council from Hadassah/Deb-
orah Group, has been ap-
pointed to chair the Council's
1988-1989 nominating com-
mittee. The committee is
charged with selecting a slate
of nominees to fill the
presidency, three vice
presidencies, the positions of
secretary and treasurer, and
16 seats on the executive
committee.
Having served three con-
secutive one-year terms as
Council president, Leon S.
Cohan steps down from his of-
fice at the May 20 delegate
assembly when his successor
is elected.
Other officers including
Vice Presidents Franklin J.
Ellias, Ellen Labes, and
Rabbi Richard C. Hertz;
Secretary Jeannie Weiner;
and Treasurer Paul D. Bor-
man are eligible for
re-nomination.
Five seats on the executive
committee will be vacated by
Rhea Appelman, Alexander
Blumenberg, Joel D. Gershen-
son, Irving Panush, and
Judge John H. Shepherd who
leave after two consecutive
three-year terms. The re-
maining 11 seats may be fill-
ed by those who currently
hold them for a second three-
year term.

good standing, may be sub-
