NCSY Has Summer Youth
nips To Israel, Europe

The National Conference of
Synagogue Youth (NCSY) is
accepting applications for
Israel summer programs.
NCSY runs four concurrent
programs in Israel during the
summer months.
Israel Summer Seminar is
open to any Jewish teenager
between the ages of 15 and
17. The program begins July
13 and runs until Aug. 17.
The tour includes visits to the
Kotel, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv,
Rosh Hanikra, the Sea of
Galilee, Jericho, Ashkelon,
the Museum of the Diaspora,
Eilat, Safed and Wadi Kelt.
Accommodations include
three-star hotels and private
dormatories. The price in-
cludes round trip airfare from
New York, all taxes and tips,
rooms and three meals daily.
Included in the program are
several free weekends which
enable participants to visit
family and friends in Israel.
The Jewish Overseas
Leadership Training (JOLT)
is a five-week tour, beginning
with two weeks in Eastern
Europe. The theme of the
summer is "From Destruc-
tion to Redemption" and in-
cludes visits to Poland,
Hungary and Czechslovakia.
After the two weeks in
Eastern Europe, the group

proceeds to Israel for a special
three-week tour. This tour is
by interview only and ap-
plications must be accom-
panied by letters of recom-
mendation from local Jewish
leaders.
The third option for a sum-
mer in Israel with NCSY is
the Taste of Israel program.
This is a two-week intensive
tour especially designed for
the teenager who wants to
learn more about his or her
Jewish heritage while spen-
ding time in Israel but has on-
ly a limited amount of vaca-
tion time. The tour concen-
trates on Jerusalem and its
vicinity and visits key sites
such as the Kotel, Gush Et-
zion, Massada and Ein Gedi.
Next summer there will be
two tours: June 1-15 and Aug.
17-31.
Yachad Goes to Israel is
especially designed for the
developmentally disabled.
Participants join the other
NCSYers touring and learn-
ing about Israel. Qualified
staff experienced and trained
in special education accom-
modate the needs of Yachad
members.
For information, contact
NCSY Regional Director,
Rabbi Mark Cohn, 967-3300.
