TIPS FOR CONSUMERS

Michigan State University and the Cooperative Exten-
sion Service of Oakland County have set up Teletip, a
system for supplying information using electronic recor-
dings on a variety of subjects. To make use of Teletip
simply select the message (by the number) you wish
to hear. Be sure to have a pencil and paper handy to
take notes. If you wish to hear a second message, hang
up and dial again.
The number to call is 858-0200. If you live in an area
where the number is a toll call then dial toll free:
1-800-621-5157. When you call this number you will be
given simple instructions to follow. 11 you have a touch
tone phone you will be able to access the system and
listen to messages any time. If you have a rotary dial
phone, call between 8:30AM and 5PM, Monday
through Friday, as this is when an operator will be
available to connect you.
In all there are over 350 different messages to choose
from. The list includes: Cooking Turkey safely..383, Food
Poisoning ..386, Storing Meat ..106, Understanding Food
Labels..112, What to do when your Freezer Fails..279 to
name just a few. If you would like a complete listing of
